Old Friends

For the last 16 years we have moved about once every 2-4 years. It's been fun and we have made many friends along the way. A few of those friends we really connected with and have kept in touch with for many years. Email and phone calls are usually the norm. This week we were blessed enough to get a visit from our really good friends that we met when we lived in Turkey. They are also the Godparents of Mystical Rose and Godmother to GMAC. We had such a wonderful time, we miss them already.

Proud of Inch

Inch was the Lector at the Mass last night. Four years ago I couldn't imagine that he would volunteer to do this, since he used to be so nervous to go in front of people, to do anything. Yes he was a bit nervous, but he did really well. I am really glad he's had this opportunity, hopefully he will continue to serve the Church, in this ministry. He's really growing up.

Twenty-Ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Isaiah 53:10-11
Psalm 33:4-5, 18-20, 22
Hebrews 4:14-16
Mark 10:35-45 or 10:42-45

The air which we breathe, the bread which we eat, the heart which throbs in our bosoms, are not more necessary for man that he may live as a human being, than is prayer for the Christian that he may live as a Christian.

Daddy & I

My dad and I have been reading this book, and we just finished it! It's about 4 kids that go to an island and meet 2 other kids who who go there every summer. They have a lot of adventure, some of it is with retired and friendly pirates. The thing I like the most is the kids imagination. The plot is really good also. Thanks daddy for reading it with me every night.

Nice Doggie

G-MAC, loves to crawl around the house pretending to be a dog. She's been doing this since she was 16 months old. It's the cutest thing to watch. She even plays tug-of-war like a puppy!

Youth Group

Last night our youth Group had Family Night! We had a fun, we started by praying the rosary walking down to the grotto outside. We also had a fun competition between the families. We had to make a structure our of toothpicks, gumdrops, and marshmallows.
Building is fun!

One group made a dog, personally I don't see it...

A baseball stadium, that was a very creative idea!

This was a roller coaster, now it is a roller coaster in a abandoned circus

This is what we made!! A pyramid!! It won most looking like what it is!

Well Inch hit another milestone (pun intended) in a active young mans life.
While playing soccer he was hit in the head with the ball and suffered a mild concussion!

We are not sure exactly when in the game it happened because he continued to play (he was on an adrenaline rush) We only found out when one of his friends came to us after the game and told us that he was dizzy and had been throwing up.
Inch has an early game and the rest of the kids play after he does. Inch and his friends sit around and talk and joke while their siblings play their games.

We took him to the ER and a CT scan came back normal. The doctor said that it was only a mild concussion.

Inch is doing fine , he has a bad headache and is just a little dizzy especially when he moves too fast.

It is awefully quiet

I was sitting at home reading when my Mom yelled out "Where is GMAC?" We looked over to see this...
Okay GMAC is really smart, she pushed the chair over to open the cabnet....and she stole the screwdriver (Who knows what she planned to do with it.)

Walking Rosary

Today is the Feast of our Lady of the Rosary. Our family has been praying a daily rosary together for a little over five years. It has really become an important part of our lives. We know we have and continue to receive many graces from this prayer. Today in honor of this feast we decided to try something different. Our parish has a rosary garden that is really cool. It is a winding path in the shape of a giant rosary, with stepping stones for each of the beads. We pack up every one in the car, even the dog, and said our daily rosary at the rosary garden. It was a very peaceful and beautiful experience.

It's a little hard to see but we are on the rosary path

Sadie

Oct 4th is the feast of St. Francis and we want to share a story. St. Francis is the patron saint of animals, knowing this Rose used to ask him for prayers for a dog. Often she she would pray while holding a little toy dog. The toy was nothing special just something that came in a Happy Meal. Rose would always ask God for a dog just like the toy.
Right before we moved to MD a friend told us about an ad in the base paper for a Miniature Schnauzer. We decided to take a look because this breed is good for people with allergies (like Inch). It was only after we brought the dog home that Inch pointed out that our new dog , Sadie, looked just like Rose's toy!

St. Therese of Lisieux

Today is the feast of St Therese of Lisieux. She is one of my favorite saints. My mom used to tell us many stories about her when we were little, and I used to want to be just like her. You can read more about her on the link above. What a great hero to look up to. She is one on Mystical Roses' favorite also.
