New School Year

We started our new school year today with 6:30 am Mass! It was easy to get the kids up and out the door, since they really don't like to get to Mass late. This was probably the quickest we've ever gotten out the door. I am not sure if we will keep going to 6:30 Mass or switch to8:00 am, we will have to see what will work out best.

This year Inch is in 10th grade, U is in 8th, Rose is in 3rd and GMAC is learning from all of her siblings. This is our 3rd year with Mother of Divine Grace Homeschool. We've tried a few other curriculum and they just weren't for us. MODG has been the best fit. Inch and U are taking some of their classes through learning support; this is a discussion class offered via the telephone. Inch really enjoyed these classes last year.
Although, I was not as organized as I would have liked been for the 1st day of school, it worked out pretty well. Maybe the credit should be given to the Graces of the Eucharist.

Our kitchen gets a makeover

Here is the kitchen when we bought the house.
You may be saying "wow, it looks great why would you need to upgrade?"
It amazing what you can do with camera angles and lighting these days!! The original cabinets from the 60's were not in the best shape, and the counter had a big crack in it.

Here is our kitchen "bare nekked"
We did the demolition ourselves to save money

Fun was had by all via the sledgehammer

The cabinet installers were a husband and wife team, and they were amazing. They did a great job. We were without a kitchen sink nor dishwasher for almost a week. We never new how much we would miss our sink! Everyone is glad that this family adventure is over.

Now here it is fully finished. Well I still have to tile the back splash ;-)

The Kitchen seems so much bigger, and lots of cabinet space! Mallu Mom squealed like a little school girl and was very giddy ;-)

An amazing find

Since we were able to get such a great interest rate of the house loan we were able to afford to get new kitchen cabinets installed.
In order to save a few hundred bucks we decided to take out the old cabinets our selves.

It's amazing what we found down there:

  • old coupons from the 1980's

  • a sealed letter with a 22 cent stamp (we think we might mail it)

  • various pieces of papers and junk

  • Halls cough drop wrappers

  • mouse poison

  • roach droppings

All of those were a little nothing special, the letter was cool but we never thought that we would see this.

Yes that is a bottle of "Aunt Jemima syrup" ---- and its not even empty!!!

The Truth is told

I cannot tell you what happened when we put in flooring...but I do have a picture.

Setting the record straight

Many of you might have read the post by Inch with his predictions about how we will "work together" on putting in laminate flooring into the house.

Well here is the real story about how it all went........ in a word GREAT

Other than a little difficulty around the fireplace the floors went in very easily.

I actually have no complaints about Inch; except for the fact that he was so quick on installing the floors that he made me look bad! So if you were looking for someone to install flooring in a house, Inch is for hire!

No dropped boxes and no real yelling. We did both hit our fingers with the hammer a few times though

As far as his other predictions about Aliens attacking and ninja moves.......... I can neither confirm nor deny the involvement of Aliens nor Ninjas in the course of our floor installation.

Assumption Mass

When we began to our search for a home, I made a request of Our Blessed Mother. I promised her that if she would pray for us to find us a house before the Feast of the Assumption (August 15) we would have a Mass offered at our house in her honor. Our Lady came through for us, we closed on the 10th !

This feast is very special to me for a couple of reasons, last year on the 15th I consecrated myself to Jesus through Mary. I was able to reconsecrated myself the Mass at our house.
August 15th is also India's Independence day!

We were very blessed to have wonderful friends and family to share this day with us. Thank you.

Most of the pictures on the post below are taken by my sis, the out of focus ones were taken by me ;-)

What we've been up to........

Sorry, we haven't kept up with the blog, look at the photos below and you will see why.

We managed to : Pull out carpet, install laminate flooring(at least to most of the house), and move over 123,000 Lbs of house stuff in only 2 and a half days!!

We got a lot of help with our move
Thank you our good friends Scott and Dave for helping us with our move.
And a big thank you to Crucian Dads sister and nephew for coming down and helping also.
(By the way she is the one who took all these pictures.)
And we can't forget Mallu Moms sister and brother who drove up 8 hours and help out a great deal.
We couldn't have done the move without you.

Hopefully as the maze of boxes gets smaller and the chaos decreases we will get more consistent with our postings

It took two 36' Uhauls and a borrowed pickup to move all of our stuff

Not all of that trash was ours!

Most of those boxes are school books

G-MAC was really tired from all of the heavy lifting ;-)

what we have done

Since we are moving, we have no time to show you interesting things WE have done...
(by the way, we have not done anything interesting anyhow.)
so here are things other people have done. (pictures from Google images.)

Pray that plane doesn't start

Birds like ice cream too!!

Has hunting become a more relaxed sport lately?

What to choose what to choose...

Predictions

I love this scheduled post thingamabob.
I am actually writing this on Sunday.

My guess is that as you are reading this me and my Dad are "trying" to work together.
To be honest this is how it is going:
I am carrying a box of flooring, I trip and drop them all.
Me and my dad have to pick up all the pieces.

Later on: We are putting in flooring.
In this sentience "we" means my Dad, and "Putting in" means Dad going gray and pulling his hair out.

Later on: We learn that Aliens are attacking America on a quest to steal all our flooring. They blow off our roof, leaving me to do ninja-like moves to save the world.

At least that is my guess...

Flooring

We bought a house.

We don't like the carpets.

We got Laminate flooring...

56 boxes is a lot.

Our car was barely moving.

If you were a Lego then it would look like this.
(sorry my Lego man has bad eyesight, he needs glasses)

For the sake of your back... DEAL WITH CARPETS!!!

Please Pray for Priests

Today is the feast day of St. Jean Vianney patron saint of parish priests. below is a prayer for priests that our family is using.

Mallu Mom

Dear Lord,
we pray that the Blessed Mother
wrap her mantle around your priests
and through her intercession
strengthen them for their ministry.
We pray that Mary will guide your priests
to follow her own words,
“Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5).
May your priests have the heart of St. Joseph,
Mary’s most chaste spouse.
May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart
inspire them to embrace
all who suffer at the foot of the cross.
May your priests be holy,
filled with the fire of your love
seeking nothing but your greater glory
and the salvation of souls.
Amen.

Saint John Vianney, pray for us.

Blessings

We feel very blessed for the health of our children.

A year ago today Mystical Rose was admitted in the hospital for 9 days. By the end of those 9 days she had major surgery and lost quite a bit of weight, and had proven her self to be an amazing little girl. When the doctors were about to take off her dressing, she grabbed my hand and said " Mommy I'm scared." She immidiatly started praying the Hail Mary! I was really moved by her faith.

Mystical Rose at the hospital talking to her baby sis

Today after Mass, she got a blessing from our favorite Dominican Priest and afterward he said," I am really glad you are alive today" So am I, we are truly blessed. We are also very blessed to have friends and family who stormed heaven with prayers, come to visit her in the hospital, cooked meals for us and was great support in many ways. Thank you.
Praise God!
